Niklas is a student from Germany who is currently studying Engineering Physics (BSc) at the University of Applied Sciences Munich. He is interested in optics, micro- & nanotechnology, and numerical modeling. Niklas is interning for five months at nextnano, where he will gain practical experience in his field of study.

Yuta Goto

Yuta Goto

Yuta holds BSc degree in physics and is currently pursuing an MSc degree in Material Science at Kyoto University in Japan. In his MSc degree, he examines microfabrication of semiconductors using two-dimensional materials, and characterizes the obtained samples. At nextnano, he is doing an R&D internship via "Vulcanus in Europe 2023-2024" of the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation. He works on the development of its software and customer service.

Allard is an undergraduate from Singapore who is pursuing a Bachelor of Computing in Computer Science as well as a Minor in Management at the National University of Singapore. Allard had diverse experiences in technological fields such as web development, data science, machine learning, and quality engineering. Through the NUS Overseas College entrepreneurial programme, Allard completed his internship at nextnano where he contributed in both the software and business aspects. At nextnano, Allard's focus centered on automating processes, developing new features for customers, as well as strategic planning for nextnano's sustainable growth.

Zhi Rong was a student from Singapore pursuing both a BEng degree in Civil Engineering and an MSc degree in Finance at the National University of Singapore. Prior to joining nextnano, he spent three years working as a financial analyst and copywriter for a Singapore start-up called Dr Wealth. Zhi Rong completed an internship at nextnano through the NUS Overseas College entrepreneurial programme. Zhi Rong's role at nextnano involved business development, where he was responsible for streamlining company processes and charting the company's direction. He was also involved in the company's sales and marketing efforts, leveraging his experience in finance and copywriting to promote nextnano's products and services.

Kemal was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He holds a BSc degree in Engineering Science from the Technische Universität München and a MSc degree in Mathematics from the Technische Universität München. For his studies at TUM, he received the prestigious DAAD scholarship. At nextnano, he was working on R&D, focusing on quantum transport in Electron Flying Qubits within our EU project UltraFastNano.

He is now at Quant-X Security & Coding GmbH, Hannover, Germany

Max was born in the Netherlands and holds a BSc degree in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands. He is currently studying towards his Master of Science in Applied Physics at the same university. He follows the specialization track covering Nano, Quantum and Photonics. At nextnano he was doing a three-month internship working on Avalanche Photodetectors.

Giulio is an Automation Engineering graduate from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He completed his Applied Physics MSc in Quantum Technology from Delft University of Technology, where he specialized in quantum computing and communication. Giulio joined the Institute of Micro and Nanotechnology of Madrid, Spain, to pursue a Ph.D. under the EU project QUANTIMONY, which focuses on III-Sb compounds in semiconductor nanostructures for spin photon interfaces and filters. He also had a one-month secondment at nextnano GmbH to explore the effects of magnetic fields on self-assembled semiconductor quantum dots.

Lucas was born in France. He is studying engineering at CentraleSupélec (CS), Paris, France. He did a gap year between his M1 and M2, where he first did an internship at Institut Néel (CNRS) in Grenoble, France, and then a second internship for six months at nextnano where he worked in collaboration with Institut Néel and CEA on the implementation of an optimization algorithm for electron flying qubits within the EU project UltraFastNano.

Brandon was born in Singapore and is currently pursuing a BEng degree in Engineering Science with a specialisation in nanoscience & technology at the National University of Singapore. His degree covers physics, electrical engineering and data science. He did an internship at nextnano for six months under the NUS Overseas College entrepreneurial programme.

Naoki Mitsui

Naoki was born in Japan. He holds a BSc degree in Physics from Waseda University in Tokyo and MSc degree in Informatics from Nagoya University. In his BSc degree, he studied Physics and Electrical Engineering. In his MSc research, he examined the relationship between quantum theory and thermodynamics using quantum information theory under the supervision of Prof. Francesco Buscemi. At nextnano, he was doing an R&D internship via the 1-year program “Vulcanus in Europe 2021-2022” of the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation where he works on the simulation of optoelectronic devices.

Anh-Luan Phan

Luan was born in Binh Thuan, Vietnam. He holds a BSc degree in Physics Teaching from the Ho Chi Minh University of Education, Vietnam and a MSc degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from the Ho Chi Minh University of Science, Vietnam. In his Master's degree, he specialized in the physics of two-dimensional Dirac materials, condensed matter physics and mathematical physics. In July 2021, he joined University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, to pursue his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Matthias Auf der Maur. He takes part in the EU project QUANTIMONY, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and focuses his research on improving the Empirical Tight-Binding module in the multiscale simulation software TiberCAD. As a secondment within the QUANTIMONY project, he spent one month at nextnano in 2022.

Gizem is from Ankara, Turkey, with a BSc in Physics from Middle East Technical University. She holds an MSc in Electronics Engineering from Sabanci University, where she developed portable low-power embedded systems. Gizem is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Quantum Nanotechnology at Lancaster University, UK, under the EU Innovative Training Network QUANTIMONY. She spent a month at nextnano in 2021 and is researching telecoms-wavelength GaSb quantum ring single-photon LEDs.

Jun-Liang Wang

Jun-Liang was born in Madrid, Spain. He holds a BSc degree in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain, and a MSc degree in Materials Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. Currently he is working towards his PhD degree at the Institut Néel (CNRS) in Grenoble, France, on the topic “Towards a flying qubit architecture with single electrons using surface acoustic waves”. Within the Grenoble Quantum Engineering (GreQuE) doctoral programme, he spent two months at nextnano in 2020 for an internship where he developed the nextnanopy Python package.

Amit was born in India. He holds a BSc degree in Physics from the University of Delhi, India, and a MSc degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Currently he is working towards his PhD degree at the Laboratoire de physique et modélisation des milieux condensés (LPMMC), Université Grenoble Alpes and CNRS, in Grenoble, France, on the topic “Quantum Properties of Exciton Polaritons”. Within the Grenoble Quantum Engineering (GreQuE) doctoral programme, he spent two months at nextnano in 2020 for an internship where he set up our new documentation (Sphinx / Read the Docs).

Max was born in Ukraine and studied Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU). He holds a BSc and a MSc degree in Physics from LMU where he worked as an experimental physicist on low-dimensional semicondutor structures in the Quantum Transport group at the Chair of Solid State Physics. In 2020, he obtained a PhD degree in Chemistry from the Technische Universität München. Before joining nextnano in 2014, he worked at attocube systems AG.

Zoltán Jéhn

Zoltán Jéhn

Zoltán was born in Hungary and holds a BSc degree in Theoretical Physics and a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), and a MSc degree in Applied and Engineering Physics of the Technische Universität München. In 2010 he won the gold medal and the special prize for the best experimental work, and in 2011 the bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Zagreb (Kroatia) and Bangkok (Thailand), respectively. At the national level, he was 2nd (2010) and 5th (2011), respectively. In 2017 he founded Xiences where he developed the XienceSim simulation software.

He is now working at WorldQuant, Hungary.

Daryoush studied Electrical Engineering at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and Physics in both Vienna and Munich. He holds a BSc and a MSc degree in Physics from the University of Vienna, Austria. During his master thesis at the University of Vienna he worked on (TD-)DFT simulations of electronic properties and plasmonics in 2D materials. Previously, he was working at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Microsystems and Solid State Technologies EMFT in Munich.
